Charity Garden Party – 2nd September 2018
Breeze Art & Makers Fair 2018
14th -16th September 2018
This autumn sees the launch of the Breeze Art & Makers Fair at West Cornwall’s beautiful TrereifeHouse, an event which will showcase the very best designer-makers and artists in the region, with three days of exhibitions, workshops, talks and demonstrations. Previously known as the Cornwall Design Fair, Breeze will profile the finest luxury craftsmanship and contemporary art, presenting the work of over 45 selected artists and makers, including silversmiths Brett Payne and Fenella Watson, ceramicists Paul Jackson and Richard Phethean, sculptors Richard Holliday and James Eddy, jewellers Emily Nixon and William Blaikie and glass artists Antonia MacGregor and Helen Eastham, and exhibiting collections from twelve of the South West’s leading art galleries, including New Craftsman Gallery, White Space Art, Circle Contemporary, Yew Tree Gallery, Makers Emporium and Guild of Ten.
In addition, the elegant interior of Trereife House will be open to visitors as the backdrop for a special exhibition of contemporary glass. Entitled Glass Glamour and curated by artist Fiaz Elson, the exhibition will showcase the work of makers who specialise in creating bespoke cast or hand-blown pieces to commission.
Outside, the parterre and long border of Trereife’s formal gardens will be the venue for Form and Formality, an exhibition of outdoor sculpture in wood, glass, metal, ceramic and stone, curated by Miranda Leonard; on the green, there will be live Raku firings, while the walled garden will also hostChristian Funnell’s mobile metalwork van, and the event’s Education Marquee, which will offer a programme of design-led workshops and demonstrations, alongside a pop-up café and artisan cake outlet.
In the main exhibition tents, there will be a stylish chill-out lounge, with Prosecco and specialist gins on offer, while in the estate’s courtyard, visitors will find a café and artisan food market offering quality fayre from local producers, alongside food options from the Kernow Forno wood-fired pizza company, and vintage ice cream bar Cecil on Ice.

Intimate Weddings at Trereife 2018/19
There’s no doubt about it, smaller weddings are definitely on the up! The 2017 ‘Wedding Trend Report’ by Cocoweddingvenues.co.uk suggests that the growing pressure and stress of organising a big event, not to mention the financial burden, has resulted in many couples opting for an ‘elopement wedding’ . They expect the trend to continue into 2018 and beyond. A concurrent trend reported by The Mail to move away from ‘generic hotel-package’ weddings has become a boon for private estates and unique venues.
Certainly at Trereife, while the enquiries have been increasing in general, we’ve noticed a definite growth in enquiries from couples asking to use our beautifully proportioned drawing room for a smaller wedding. We’ve even hosted weddings with just the couple and us as witnesses! We can however accommodate up to 40 for a seated meal after the ceremony, and more for a more informal buffet. Our romantic cobbled courtyard has even been used to create an informal ‘street party’ themed wedding to great effect.
One our main advantages is our location in Cornwall, just outside Penzance, a town which was picked in the ’52 places to go in 2017′ by The New York Times . Another benefit of a wedding at Trereife is our ability to deliver a ‘country and coast’ wedding. The distant views over Mounts Bay from our formal gardens is quite unusual for a manor house wedding in Cornwall.

House Tours and Garden Opening
Garden Visits and House Guided Tours
One of the highlights of a trip to Penzance for anyone with a keen interest in history is a guided tour with the owner of Trereife, Tim Le Grice. Whether you’re staying in our bed and breakfast for a few days or dropping in for one of our regular garden and house open days, Trereife is a significant historical and cultural landmark, set in tranquil rolling hills just outside Newlyn, near Penzance. Easy to get to – just off the A30 to Land’s End – and close to other attractions such as St Michael’s Mount and Trewidden Gardens, you can easily put Trereife into your planned trip to West Cornwall.
Planning Your Visit
Trereife is open in 2017 on the following days (May-September)
