Cornish Country Fayre- Saturday 28th August 2010
Applications for stall holders available here
The spectacular backdrop of Trereife Park, near Penzance, will be the setting of a summer fayre on Saturday 28th August.
A range of attractions will give the event the atmosphere of a traditional country fayre, with a companion dog show, heavy shire horses, and Cornish Wrestling. A range of classic cars will be on display and visitors will be welcome to browse an array of food, craft and trade stalls, while Bagasporthia, a local Celtic and Cornish band provide the soundtrack. The Bagas Cornish Dance Troupe will be performing alongside the band and will be offering the public a chance to learn Cornish Dancing. Within the same area, The Cornish Language Partnership will be running Cornish Language workshops throughout the day.
Other star attractions are set to be a fabulous Falconry display, a demonstration of Cornish wrestling by the Sithney Common Club, as well as the ever popular Ferret racing. There’s entertainment aplenty for the children with a Fire Engine from Penzance Fire Brigade, Donkey rides and a bouncy castle. This year the Penzance Gym Club, Poppy’s Acrobatics will be giving an exhilarating performance and inviting the young and not so young to have a go and test their circus skills with balancing and juggling exercises.
Make a visit to Trereife’s Poet’s cafe for a delicious selection of homemade dishes, and a beer tent will be on hand to quench your thirst. Don’t forget to venture a little further to the Gallery and view an exciting exhibition; ‘5 from St. Ives’ comprising of Anthony Frost, Bob Devereuex, Stephen Prince, Russell Hedges and Colin Freebury.
