We only stayed one night but luckily arrived early enough to wander through the gardens. It is a beautiful estate. We had an extremely comfortable, relaxed stay. We were in the Wordsworth room which was huge with large windows with window seats. The bathroom was larger than many and had all the amenities. The bed was comfortable and was a king size (~76″ wide) which was a pleasant change. They also had feather pillows that fluffed up, instead of the usual foam slab, which was a heavenly treat!!! Breakfast was made to order, with lots of fresh fruit and yogurt. We would definitely stay again and wish them every success.

Not A Penzance National Trust House
Trereife House is a privately owned manor house in West Penwith. The grade 2 listed house is often mistaken as a Penzance National Trust House. It’s impressive Queen Ann style gives a Penzance National trust house feel but we can assure you we are privately owned.
Built in the 18th Century, the manor house features two storeys, a hipped roof and dormer windows. The impressive style and recent reconstruction of the house caught they eye of the channel 4 TV series Country House Rescue, where even the presenter Ruth Watson was under the impression that Trereife could have been a Penzance National Trust House.
Trereife house itself is predominantly Queen Anne, with parts dating back to Elizabethan times. It offers an unforgettable setting for almost any occasion, particularly weddings. With four house rooms and a self-contained courtyard flat available all year round, Trereife also offers the chance to stay in one of Cornwall’s finest country houses, warmly hosted by the Le Grice family – Tim, Liz, Georgie, Pete and their faithful hound Duke. You can hire our beautiful manor house without paying Penzance national trust house prices.
The house is set in the stunning countryside just west of Penzance, with views across Mount’s Bay to St Michael’s Mount. Easily accessible by road, rail or from Newquay airport, it’s the perfect start to a Scilly Isles adventure, and an ideal base from which to explore the many beaches and attractions in this magical corner of Cornwall.
Trereife is perfectly suited to providing an ideal photographic and film location. The house is of great interest, being a fine example of 18th Century architecture. The cobbled courtyard and walled garden are particularly fine period features. Our 18th century country house resembles a National Trust houses, and while we have all the features of a Penzance trust house, we don’t have the day price tag.
We have been successful in attracting location scouts, given our ease of access, facilities and large, interesting and accommodating rooms. The outside of the house never fails to make a real impression on those that visit and the inside is equally impressive.
Wedding receptions Cornwall
Wedding Receptions
Please see our new wedding website by clicking here, for more information on our weddings.
Trereife is perfect for intimate weddings, with 50 being an optimal number for house weddings. However, should you want a bigger function, the majority of our wedding receptions take place in a hired marquee on the old tennis lawn or to the side of the house .
Opt for a marquee with windows walls and look out over the ‘ha ha’ to the stunning country surrounds and, in springtime, a token foal or two!
The terrace lawns are enormously popular for holding the drinks reception if the weather is good and from there guests can amble into the peaceful walled garden with its ancient red walls illuminated by the late afternoon sun.

BEACHES
The county of Cornwall boasts three dramatically different and unique coastlines. In the north, visitors will enjoy sensational surfing opportunities and a great party atmosphere while the west offers craggy coastlines and stunning views. The west is also home to some great family beaches and the harbour towns of Falmouth and St Ives are not to be missed. In the south, our soft sandy beaches feature azure blue waters and a sub-tropical climate within secluded coves that are perfect for relaxation. Here are some of our recommendations:
Holywell Bay, Newquay (North Cornwall): A great family beach that is quieter and fun to play with the kids in the rolling sand dunes.
