Trereife House is a privately owned manor house in West Penwith. The grade 2 listed house is often mistaken as a Penzance National Trust House. It’s impressive Queen Ann style gives a Penzance National trust house feel but we can assure you we are privately owned.
Built in the 18th Century, the manor house features two storeys, a hipped roof and dormer windows. The impressive style and recent reconstruction of the house caught they eye of the channel 4 TV series Country House Rescue, where even the presenter Ruth Watson was under the impression that Trereife could have been a Penzance National Trust House.
Trereife house itself is predominantly Queen Anne, with parts dating back to Elizabethan times. It offers an unforgettable setting for almost any occasion, particularly weddings. With four house rooms and a self-contained courtyard flat available all year round, Trereife also offers the chance to stay in one of Cornwall’s finest country houses, warmly hosted by the Le Grice family – Tim, Liz, Georgie, Pete and their faithful hound Duke. The house is set in the stunning countryside just west of Penzance, with views across Mount’s Bay to St Michael’s Mount. Easily accessible by road, rail or from Newquay airport, it’s the perfect start to a Scilly Isles adventure, and an ideal base from which to explore the many beaches and attractions in this magical corner of Cornwall.
Trereife is perfectly suited to providing an ideal photographic and film location. The house is of great interest, being a fine example of 18th Century architecture. The cobbled courtyard and walled garden are particularly fine period features. Our 18th century country house resembles a National Trust houses, and while we have all the features of a Penzance trust house, we don’t have the day price tag.
We have been successful in attracting location scouts, given our ease of access, facilities and large, interesting and accommodating rooms. The outside of the house never fails to make a real impression on those that visit and the inside is equally impressive.
